Lead Machine Learning Engineer
The Role
You are CoreLabel's first engineer. You will design and build every technical component of the platform — annotation interfaces, REST API, IAA quality dashboard, ML pre-labeling engine, and self-serve developer portal. No existing codebase. No tech debt. No senior engineer above you. Just a clear product vision and real ownership.
By Month 12 you will have shipped a production annotation platform used by 35–65 clients, a Python SDK, three MLOps integrations, and a VPC deployment option for enterprise clients.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 4+ yrs ML engineering, NLP, or annotation tooling — production systems, not prototypes
- Strong Python: FastAPI or Flask, SQLAlchemy, async patterns
- PostgreSQL: schema design and query optimisation for annotation workloads
- Hands-on with Label Studio, Labelbox, Scale AI, or Surge AI
- Working knowledge of IAA metrics: Cohen’s kappa, Fleiss’ kappa
- Solo engineer comfort — own architecture and build-vs-buy decisions for 6 months
Strongly preferred
- RLHF, preference learning, or human-in-the-loop ML pipeline experience
- Active learning or confidence calibration: uncertainty sampling, model-guided routing
- MLOps platform integration: W&B, MLflow, Databricks, or SageMaker
- Docker and AWS/GCP cloud infrastructure; VPC configuration
- Prior early-stage startup experience

Technical Sales Lead, AI Training Data
The Role
You are the first person a prospect meets, the person who runs their demo, scopes their project, and closes the contract. No split between pre-sales and sales — you own the full revenue motion for every account you touch.
What You Will Own
Pipeline & Qualification
- Outbound prospecting + inbound qualification across 3 primary segments: RLHF/LLM, Healthcare AI, and E-Commerce
- Structured discovery calls: annotation pain points, data volume, turnaround requirements, quality standards
- Map each prospect to the right CoreLabel entry point: ontology workshop, managed retainer, or self-serve API
Demo Delivery & Scoping
- Live demos tailored to each prospect's data type, ML stack, and quality requirements
- Ontology scoping workshops to design annotation schemas and edge-case guidelines with client ML teams
- Translate requirements into project briefs for ops: annotator tier, volume, SLA, kappa target, export format
Closing & Handoff
- Own proposal, pricing, and MSA/SOW negotiation from $5K pilots to $20K/month retainers
- Clean handoff to annotation ops at contract signature with full project brief and SLA commitments
- Conference presence: NeurIPS, MLOps World, ICLR workshops, VentureBeat Transform
What Success Looks Like
| 30 Days | Demo environment live across 3 data types. First 10 outbound sequences sent. |
| 90 Days | First paid pilot signed ($5K–$15K). Pipeline of 15+ qualified accounts. |
| 12 Months | $900K–$1.5M ARR contribution. Repeatable sales playbook documented. 3 reference-able clients. |
What We Are Looking For
- Direct experience selling annotation, labeling, data curation, or AI data infrastructure
- Hands-on familiarity with RLHF workflows or LLM fine-tuning pipelines
- Prior first-SA or first-sales-hire experience at an early-stage startup
